Scale Basics:   What is a Scale?
You can think of a scale as a pattern for selecting which of the 12 notes to use in a particular song.
A song played using the Major scale will be played using only 7 notes, chosen by using the pattern above.
If you play all twelve notes, this is called the chromatic scale.
Note: You could have a scale with only two notes. However, It would not sound very interesting.
