Complete Major Scale:   3rd Position It is not important to memorize each of the 5 positions at this time.  Concentrate on the 1st and 3rd positions initially. The root note of the 1st and 3rd positions are on the 6th and 5th strings.  This lends well to the I, IV, V principle.
